Emily Irene VanCamp who initially set out to become professional dancer, became interested in acting after she met her sister Katie on the set of the film Ladies Room. The actress began taking acting classes, and also landed roles as a guest on a TV show from her home country of Canada. A few of the television shows that she appeared in were Are You afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp achieved a major breakthrough when he got a role on the WB horror/mystery television show Glory Days as Sam Dolan. Though receiving positive reviews this show's poor ratings ultimately led to it having to end up being cancelled after only nine episodes. On May 12, 1986, the actress immediately secured a new role in Everwood. Her character Amy Abbott is one of the main characters. This role led to her being named a Young Artist Award nominee and for four Teen Choice Awards.
